The Block
The young, innovative, and bold design will be presented in Habitare’s The Block area. It includes the new Talentshop exhibition, the Protoshop exhibition, and the stands of design institutions and start-up companies. The Block is produced by Imu Design.
Talentshop is a new curated exhibition that complements and builds on the Protoshop concept. The exhibition presents four designers who have a distinct style and own identity, but who are not yet widely recognized by the public. The aim of Talentshop is to promote up and coming young designers and to give them an opportunity to show their work and their thinking more broadly.
Talentshop presents young up-and-coming designer names
Habitare’s Talentshop in The Block area will introduce the works of four interesting, up-and-coming designers in the early stages of their careers. All the exhibited designers demonstrate high-quality work and an uncompromising attitude, and each designer has their own vision and designer identity.
Saija Halko
“As a designer, I am sensitive, research-oriented and meticulous. Ceramics as material is very challenging, it keeps me alert. In my works I also use volcanic ash, which I collect myself in the Faroe Islands ”

Tero Kuitunen
“I am playful and experimental hands on designer. I like haptic aspects in design that the object touches you at some level or that you’d like to touch it. For Talentshop I’ll do something a little more artistic.”

Erin Turkoglu
”As a designer I am a maker, story teller and probably a colorist too. I love different materials and techniques and at Aalto I have been trying out everything from textiles to plastics. It motivates and inspires me the most. At the moment I am working on clay, such an old material but full of opportunities.”

Aoi Yoshizawa
”As a designer I am drawn into different materials, colours and surfaces. In my works, like textiles or wallpapers, I merge abstract forms and colours with moods, experiences and memories. I wish to leave a handprint of my own into my work: I paint, draw and cut paper by hand instead of doing it all by computer. I appreciate craftmanship very highly. I constantly seek new ways to use it in my work. ”
