The Habitare Materials exhibition will be shown in spring 2025 at the world’s most important design event, Milan Design Week, 7-13 April 2025. Being present at Milan is a follow up of Habitare Materials’ successful debut at Milan in spring 2023.

Habitare Materials appeared for the first time at Milan’s Alcova exhibition in April 2023, together with 14 partner companies. The audience-engaging, installation-like material exhibition was a success, and the exhibition concept left a lasting impression on the hearts of the international audience. Habitare Materials was also widely recognized in international media (e.g.Wallpaper, Domus, Dezeen).

This year, we will include Finnish products in the magnificent Materials exhibition, ranging from furniture to lighting.

Habitare Materials

1. Model pieces in the exhibition’s material library

Habitare Materials is an experiential materials exhibition where your company can display pieces of material in the exhibition’s materials library for visitors to browse and compose to collages. Information about the manufacturers’ products can be easily obtained from the back of the material samples.

The curation and implementation are managed by NEMO architects Jussi Laine and Maria Klemetti-Laine. Companies can propose their materials for the library.

2. Visibility in the Habitare Materials exhibition architecture

Habitare Materials partners have the opportunity to be part of the exhibition architecture designed by NEMO architects, consisting of display furniture designed with materials from material suppliers. This is a tremendous opportunity to achieve greater visibility at the Milan exhibition and in the media.

Habitare Objects

The Habitare Objects exhibition will take place in the same space as Habitare Materials, as part of the concept.

The exhibition showcases selected pieces of Finnish design in a contemporary and engaging way, based on a communicatively interesting phenomenon.

Manufacturers have the opportunity to participate in the exhibition with finished products such as furniture and lighting. The number of products is limited, and the final product selections will be made by the curator.

The manufacturers’ product information will be presented in the exhibition according to Alcova’s guidelines. The curation is managed by Habitare’s Creative Lead, Päivi Helander.

The exhibition will also take place at Habitare in Helsinki in September 2025.

Alcova as a venue

Alcova is one of the most significant exhibition complexes at Milan Design Week in recent years.

In 2024, Alcova was visited by 90,000 people, including 1,500 media representatives.

The historical setting of Alcova, along with its brand value at Milan Design Week, allows Finnish companies to reach a wide, international audience at the pinnacle of architecture and design.

Simple and effective participation

Habitare Materials and Habitare Objects offers a pre-curated and conceptualised exhibition opportunity that is easy to participate in. The Habitare Materials exhibition will be carried out and curated by NEMO architects Jussi Laine and Maria Klemetti Laine. Habitare Objects is curated by Habitare Creative Lead Päivi Helander.

Impressive installation, with the phenomenon as the basis for curation

Milan is a place for impressive installations. Through a carefully curated and designed joint presentation by companies, we can maximize the engaging display of Finnish products.

Habitare Materials & Objects boldly unites the participating companies into a high-quality exhibition ensemble. Through striking installations, the phenomenon is presented in an internationally appealing way.

The phenomenon is applied to the company’s product enabling new possibilities.

Curators will guide the work of the participating companies and collaboratively design the visible elements of the exhibition. This also allows for a new type of collaboration between companies.

Ready-to-use concept with turnkey implementation

Led by NEMO architects Jussi and Maria, the Habitare Materials team hosts the entire exhibition, sharing information about materials and material and furniture suppliers with visitors. This way, no company representation is required at the exhibition and no company’s staff resources are tied up in participating.

Our Habitare Materials team consists of top professionals in the field, including designers, sales experts, and company representatives with strong backgrounds and training in interior architecture, large-scale design projects, as well as interior and material expertise.

The production also handles all the forwarding (from Messukeskus to Messukeskus) and freight for the Milan exhibition.

Continue your participation at Habitare in autumn 2025

The Habitare Materials Milan production will continue into autumn 2025 Habitare, allowing you to easily participate in both the Milan and Helsinki exhibitions. The Fall 2025 re-curation will allow your company to review and add to the range of model pieces or elements of exhibition architecture for the Helsinki exhibition. The model pieces from Milan will be stored at the Helsinki Exhibition Centre over the summer of 2025.

Participation in Habitare Materials in Helsinki also includes extensive visibility in Habitare channels; social media, newsletters, website and Habitare’s programme.

Habitare Objects in Helsinki 2025

The Habitare Objects exhibition will take place with the selected products for Milan, without a separate re-curation in September 2025 at Habitare. The exhibition will be assembled and executed by Messukeskus.

Companies exhibiting at Habitare Objects in Milan will have the opportunity to have a stand at Habitare 2025 in September. The Objects exhibition area itself will be run as a stand-alone exhibition area without separate staff.

Take advantage of Business Finland’s Exhibition Explorer support

The partners selected for Habitare Materials Milan are export- and design-oriented Nordic material suppliers. An Exhibition Explorer search will be set up for Finnish companies in the project, to which companies that meet Business Finland’s criteria can apply. Companies will have the opportunity to apply for a retroactive 50% subsidy towards the cost of participation.

The grant application must be submitted before the event starts and it is the company’s responsibility to apply for the Business Finland Exhibition Explorer grant. All companies that participated in the Milan 2023 exhibition and met the application criteria received half of their participation fee back as an export grant through Exhibition Explorer.
