The Block: Habitare Talents & Habitare Protos
The Block, Habitare’s area for new design, brings together emerging designers, fresh product ideas, and manufacturers. The Habitare Talents exhibition will
feature four designers who are in the early stages of their careers, but who have already established a recognisable designer identity and shown proof of
their skills. Every year, Habitare Protos presents 10–12 ideas for future products. The exhibition, which will be held for the 15th time next autumn and has showcased some 160 product ideas, has presented prototypes from furniture to small objects, with some of the featured products becoming production items for several companies.
Elina Aalto and Saara Renvall from Imu Design will be responsible for curating and producing the exhibitions. In addition, the jury will include the creative lead at Habitare, Päivi Helander, and this year’s non-permanent member of the jury, the designer Antti Tuomi, who was featured in the Talentshop exhibition in 2023. The competition secretary will be the Habitare producer Ida Ågren.
The calls are now open for the Habitare Talents and Habitare Protos 2025 exhibitions and will continue until February 11, 2025. The selected designers and product ideas can be seen at the Habitare from 11 to 15 September 2024.

Habitare Talents to highlight emerging names in design
Habitare Talents offers an opportunity for four designers or design teams to showcase their expertise. These emerging designers represent the future of Finnish design in the coming years. The exhibition will feature four designers in the early stages of their careers, each having already established a recognizable designer identity and demonstrated their skills, though they may not be widely known to the general public. The selected designers will have their own separate small stands in The Block area, where they can exhibit several designs.
The call is now open for the Habitare Talents. Portfolios and entries must be submitted by 11 February 2025.
Habitare Protos to connect product ideas and manufacturers
The Habitare Protos exhibition presents 10-12 new prototypes and product ideas. The exhibition, which reflects new design trends, opens up a view into our future world of objects. Product ideas include new interpretations of classic types of furniture, insightful small products, and solutions for home furnishing challenges.
In the exhibition, young generation designers have the opportunity to test the appeal of their product ideas to potential manufacturers and future buyers. The aim is to discover and present great product ideas and to help young designers and manufacturers connect with each other.
The call is now open for the Habitare Protos. Portfolios and entries must be submitted by 11 February 2025.
