The Danish label unveils Paradigm, a reimagined 1969 modular sofa by Erik Rasmussen, ready to shape-shift from offices to hotel lounges and everywhere in between
Montana Furniture expands its universe of adaptable design with the reintroduction of a modular sofa, originally conceived in 1969 by Danish designer Erik Rasmussen.
Now relaunched as Paradigm, the system retains its sculptural quality while evolving to meet the demands and needs of contemporary living and working. Its modular nature makes it particularly effective in open-plan environments, where zoning is key.

With its restrained geometry, flexible nature and playful hues, the sofa’s character allows it to be reconfigured to suit everything from residential, office and hospitality settings.
The reissue of Paradigm reflects Montana Furniture’s wider values, including modularity, longevity and a commitment to sustainable design, while preserving the integrity of Rasmussen’s original vision.
Comprising straight and corner modules alongside a pouffe, Paradigm can be tailored to suit both compact rooms and larger layouts, offering a flexible approach to seating that grows with the space.

Updated with discreet linking brackets, removable covers and replaceable components, the system is easy to reconfigure, maintain and refresh as needs evolve.
The option of removable covers also makes Paradigm a practical choice for high-traffic environments. In hospitality or workplaces, this allows for easy maintenance and longer life cycles, often key considerations in both commercial and residential contexts.
New fabric options, including textiles from Kvadrat and Gabriel, extend its material palette, while specifications such as fire-resistant foam and elevated legs ensure suitability across a range of environments.

Originally known as the Paustian Modular Sofa, the design has been reissued with the support of Rasmussen’s family, ensuring continuity of authorship and intent.
Its return highlights Montana Furniture’s commitment to creating furniture that remains timeless, with the ability to adapt and keep up with changing needs over time.
