ma Kollektive is a collective formed by two sisters. Maria Haataja is a visual artist and an architect student whose work explores the aesthetics of associative wandering. Riikka Kälkäjä is a ceramic artist and interior stylist whose handmade ceramic pieces are inspired by the forms and proportions found in nature.
Although the duo works in different mediums, their practices are united by a quiet aesthetic shaped by the harshness of the North. Their works reflect a shared relationship with both the intuitive process of making art and a deeper sense of being.
