What if, right in the middle of the exhibition hall, you could step into a movie theater for a moment? In a plot twist fitting for Habitare’s theme, Bolon, Cinemafix, Genelec, and Kino Konepaja are bringing something unprecedented to the fair: a full-scale movie theater experience right in the middle of the exhibition hall.
Habitare Theater combines a movie theater, a lounge, and a bar. Grab a drink and some popcorn, take a moment to relax in the lounge, or settle comfortably into the theater to enjoy Finnish short films. The program, curated by Kino Konepaja, features six Finnish short films offering comedy, drama, suspense, and surprises.

Teemu Nikki: Fantasia, 9 min (S)
A short film about a country boy who is tired of eating potatoes and wants to introduce his parents to Italian cuisine.
Jukka Kärkkäinen: Puskee veemäiseen paikkaan, 6 min (S)
“He’s Heading to a Shady Place” is an intimate moment between a father and son—one evening, one car ride, one problem.
Anna Paavilainen: Kaksi ruumista rannalla, 20 min (K12)
A woman wakes up on the beach, wrapped in plastic, half-naked and wearing high heels. “Not again,” she sighs, and decides to find the culprit.
Teppo Airaksinen: Keppi, 10 min (S)
Aava wants a dog. Dad comes up with what he thinks is a good way to thwart Alma’s wish. If Aava can walk the dog for two weeks, she’ll get one.
Jussi Rautaniemi: Strive, 15 min (K7)
In a future where people escape reality through technology addiction, 17-year-old Toni wants to experience something authentic.
Fabian Munsterhjelm: Sukkahousut, 15 min (S)
The couple is in a hurry to get to an important party, but a hole in the woman’s pantyhose throws a wrench in their plans.
Behind the Movie Theater
Habitare Theater is the result of the expertise of four partners. Together, they bring to the fair an experience that combines design, space, technology, and film.
Bolon – Flooring as Part of the Experience
Swedish company Bolon is bringing its new BKB Dune flooring to Habitare Theater. Combining design and sustainability, Bolon is a pioneer in woven flooring, with production facilities located in Ulricehamn, Sweden.
Bolon’s owners, Marie and Annica Eklund, will be visiting Habitare Theater and giving two half-hour presentations on September 2 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The presentations will also feature the premiere of “Bolon Loves Water.”
Cinemafix – Creator of the Movie Theater Experience
The movie theater experience begins even before the film starts. Cinemafix designs and builds movie theaters where the space, lighting, soundscape, image quality, and comfort come together as a single cohesive whole.

Genelec – The Sound of Cinema
A movie is more than just images. The soundscape at Habitare Theater is powered by Genelec’s S360 and 8341A SAM™ studio monitors, as well as the 7382A SAM™ studio subwoofer.
Genelec’s sound system brings a precise and impressive audio experience to the theater, making short films even more immersive.
Kino Konepaja – Films and Curation
In addition to the cinema itself, Kino Konepaja brings its most important element to Habitare: the films.
The program curated by Kino Konepaja features six Finnish short films that transport viewers to different stories, moods, and worlds. At Habitare Theater, you can experience a film as part of your day at the fair—as a spontaneous stop, a planned event, or a moment when you just feel like sitting down and watching a good movie.
