In this area, visitors can not only discover Finnish furniture expertise but also see craftsmanship in action: in the upholstery workshop run by Ikimake, you can watch an upholsterer at work, and at the Laitala Furniture Factory’s woodworking workshop, live demonstrations will be held throughout the event. The area tells stories of domestic expertise and reminds us why Finnish furniture is more than just a piece of furniture – it is a legacy of quality, sustainability and design.

Once upon a time, there was a land surrounded by forests and lakes, where people learnt to build their lives from what nature provided them with.
Finland is a country shaped by forest, water, seasons and tradition. Long winters and remote landscapes taught generations of Finns to value practical thinking, honest craftsmanship, and solutions that last.
From this environment grew a culture of making.
For centuries, woodworking and furniture making were not luxuries in Finland, they were essential skills. Families relied on the forest for their livelihood. Timber industries, carpentry workshops, sawmills and furniture makers helped buil the foundation which put bread on the table.
These traditional skills evolved into something uniquely Finnish: a philosophy of practical design.
Objects were created not simply to look beautiful, but to improve everyday life. Furniture was built to endure generations. Tools were designed to feel natural in the hand. Homes were shaped around light, warmth and functionality.

ikimakee
ikimakee Oy is a Finnish joint venture founded by four creative craftsmen in 2024, after our former employer ceased operations. We manufacture modular sofas for a variety of uses and create custom sofas and restorations based on our customers’ wishes. Our products are developed, designed, and manufactured as a team in Hakaniemi, Helsinki, leveraging each member’s unique skills as a carpenter, upholsterer, salesperson, and creative designer.
At the heart of our products are comfort, functionality, and durability—essential qualities for furniture suitable for both private homes and public spaces.
Huonekalutehdas Laitala
Laitala is a third-generation family-owned furniture manufacturer founded in 1932. We produce furniture inspired by historic interior styles for homes, commercial spaces and public interiors. We also manufacture contract furniture and wooden components for business customers. Our strengths include heritage projects, bespoke solutions and high-quality craftsmanship that combines Jurva’s woodworking tradition with today’s production methods.

Aisbois designs and manufactures timeless interior design products in Finnish Lapland from industry surplus materials. Aisbois uses leftover and rejected pieces from mass timber production and gives them a new life as high-quality products. In the products, circular economy thinking meets Finnish design and local production. Each object carries the story of its material’s origin and is made to last through time and use.

Muoto Collection
Muoto Collection is a Finnish design company whose products combine timeless design, high-quality materials, and Finnish craftsmanship.
Founders/Designers Kirsi Pasanen and Mikko Kentta draw inspiration from Nordic design traditions and everyday life, where clean aesthetics, functionality, and durability play a central role.
All products are designed and manufactured in Lahti, Finland, where uncompromising craftsmanship and carefully selected materials form the foundation for lasting quality and products created to endure for generations.

Muurame has been in production for 70 years. Its timeless, long-lasting design supports the principles of sustainable development. Muurame furniture has been, and continues to be, manufactured from high-quality Finnish materials. Production is carried out by Finnish professionals.

Rintaluoma’s furniture manufacturing tradition began in 1972 in the
village of Äystö, Teuva, where our furniture is still made today.
