Parolan® was founded in 1967, in the basement of a family home, when Aulis Herranen and his wife Toini began crafting rattan furniture by hand. Their devotion to the material and belief in its beauty has guided our journey ever since. The very first pieces were crafted in the Parolan® workshop by our founder, Aulis Herranen. Today, it is always a joy to encounter our beloved hanging chairs and other rattan icons in places both familiar and unexpected.
Today, Parolan® is a modern Finnish rattan design house, balancing iconic classics with forward-looking creations. Alongside our heritage pieces, we introduce contemporary designs by Finnish designers —our way of honoring the legacy of Aulis and Toini while contributing to the evolving story of Finnish design.
