Fiber Artist Paula Pasanen creates wall textiles using mixed-media techniques and natural fibers such as wool and cotton. Working from her studio in Meilahti, Helsinki, she produces unique textile artworks that range from abstract compositions to cityscapes. Her work is deeply rooted in emotional landscapes, memories, and synesthesia, where colors evoke places, emotions, and lived experiences. Having spent much of her life abroad before returning to Finland in 2024, her artistic practice is shaped by movement between cultures and places. Through texture, color, and layered surfaces, she creates personal interpretations of both inner landscapes and the urban character of Helsinki.
My textile art explores the connection between memory, emotion, and place. Working with natural fibers and mixed-media techniques, I create both abstract compositions and cityscapes inspired by Helsinki. My practice is deeply influenced by synesthesia, where colors become a language for emotions, memories, and lived experiences.
At Habitare 2026, I will present my latest collection of textile artworks, inviting visitors to experience familiar urban landscapes through texture, color, and a personal emotional perspective. I look forward to meeting visitors and sharing the stories behind my work.
