Habitare Materials & Objects Milan

Habitare Materials & Objects Milan 2025

The Habitare Materials exhibition was shown in spring 2025 at the world’s most important design event, Milan Design Week, 7-13 April 2025.

Habitare Materials took part for the second time in the Alcova exhibition as part of Milan Design Week. The installation-like, participatory materials exhibition featured 15 inspiring partner companies and designers. Once again, the exhibition was a success: it stood out with its distinctive concept and left a lasting impression on the international design audience with its tactile, hands-on approach. Habitare Materials also received widespread attention in leading international media, including Dezeen, Domus, Elle Decor, and Wallpaper.

This time, we complemented the stunning Habitare Materials exhibition with a curated selection of Finnish design products – from furniture to lighting – as the material library was joined by the new Habitare Objects exhibition.

This success story continues in Finland, as a piece of Milan will be showcased at Habitare on 10–14 September 2025.

The exhibition is currently in the making – now is the time to secure your spot! Spaces are limited and the curation will take place in June, so make your reservation soon.

Habitare Materials

Habitare Materials is Habitare’s experiential and inspiring material exhibition. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and try out material combinations for their projects and purchases. Material collage is easily captured and shareable on personal social media channels. Information about the manufacturers’ products can be easily obtained from the back of the material samples.

Habitare Objects

The Habitare Objects exhibition will take place in the same space as Habitare Materials, as part of the concept. The exhibition presents a curated selection of top Finnish design products, ranging from furniture to lighting, highlighting them in a contemporary and engaging way.

Alcova Milano as a venue

To be held for the fifth time in Milan, the Alcova showcase has become one of the most visited design events in the world in recent years, attracting 90,000 visitors in 2024. It is a platform for experimental and innovative design, bringing together design companies, designers and other industry players from around the world. Alcova is especially known for its unique venues, many of which are abandoned historic buildings or areas, such as former factories, villas, or greenhouses that have been repurposed for exibition use.

Habitare Materials & Objects visibility internationally

Habitare Materials also received widespread attention in leading international media, including Dezeen, Domus, Dwell Magazine, Elle Decor, Vogue Living and Wallpaper.

Maria Klemetti Laine and Jussi Laine of NEMO Architects curate the Habitare Materials exhibition and design the exhibition architecture for the entire showcase.

“Habitare Materials & Objects highlights ethical and ecologically sustainable, Finnish design and material solutions. It is important, especially in the midst of the current economic uncertainty, that Habitare offers companies an opportunity to participate in a high-quality international exhibition”, say Maria Klemetti Laine and Jussi Laine.

Habitare Objects curated by Habitare’s Creative Lead Päivi Helander

This year in Milan, we are combining the stunning Habitare Materials exhibition with Finnish design products, ranging from furniture to lighting. Alongside the materials library, the new Habitare Objects exhibition will be introduced. The curation is managed by Habitare’s creative lead, Päivi Helander.

“By staging a joint exhibition, we can help more companies and designers to showcase their work in a major international arena, as it can be difficult for individual designers to get an exhibition slot in Milan. The collaboration enhances the exhibition, producing great encounters and adding an interesting dynamic”, says the creative lead at Habitare and the curator of Objects, Päivi Helander.

The Habitare Materials exhibition was showcased at Milan Design Week in 2023

Habitare Materials appeared for the first time at Milan’s Alcova exhibition in April 2023, together with 14 partner companies. The installation-like, participatory exhibition of materials was a success: it stood out, and its exhibition concept, which invited visitors to touch the materials, left its mark on the hearts of the international design audience. Habitare Materials was also widely recognized in international media (e.g.Wallpaper, Domus, Dezeen).
