Network at the Habitare Pro Lounge

During Habitare Pro, several networking events will take place. This is an ideal opportunity to catch up with your industry associates in an informal environment, located in the Habitare Pro Lounge.

A selection of industry experts will present a series of workshops where we invite you to meaningfully engage, meet and greet the experts in a relaxed atmosphere in a dedicated workshop space in the Pro lounge. Here you can connect with like-minded people in small groups of up to 20.

On Thursday, Sep 12th, the theme of the workshops is architecture.

On Friday, Sep 13th, the focus of the workshops will be on buyers.

The workshops are free of charge, but seats are limited (max. 20 participants per workshop). Please reserve your spot in advance! Also, remember to register as a visitor for the event!

ARCHITECTURE FOCUS DAY

WASTE NOT /Hiil

Thursday 12 September

Hiil Co-Founders, Miikka Kotilainen will present a session about burning wood as a natural, non-toxic product for the architectural industry. Hiil is a wood charring house and manufacturer of Kiertopuu products.

Charred wood is timber in which the surface has been modified by burning, a natural and non-toxic way to enhance its weather resistance and protect it from decay organisms. The experts will address key considerations about the material and it’s use and how charring the surface does not weaken the wood’s structure, so surface-charred wood can be used in the same ways as any other wood material which can be discussed in the workshop.

CBRE, Director Workplace, Jutta Sellin will present a session about how much space we really need to work. CBRE is the global leader in commercial real estate services and investments.  With services, insights and data that span every dimension of the industry, they create solutions for clients of every size, in every sector and across every geography. In this session they will address the latest insights, which can be discussed in the workshop about space to work. A talk on the main stage between CBRE and Framery will be held before this workshop, so the opportunity to ask questions and interact will extend into this session.

How do we curb the over-repairing of buildings in Finland? Buildings should be taken care of by repairing damaged parts, preserving the old, not making it look new or “modern”. In this workshop, the experts will elaborate and answer questions about sustainable building repair solutions.

The Alvar Aalto Foundation is one of the initiators of the ‘Purkamatta paras’ (Prevention of demolition) campaign. Find out more about the foundation and this campaign in this informative workshop session. The Alvar Aalto Foundation derives from the continuation of the material and spiritual legacy and functional design of the world-famous architect and designer, Alvar Aalto.  A talk on the main stage relating to this topic will be held before this workshop, so the opportunity to ask questions and interact will extend into this session.

SUSTAINABLE SOURING OF MATERIAL SAMPLES FROM THE WORLD’S LEADING BRANDS / Swatchbox

Every box ships with instructions to sustainably return and recycle any materials no longer needed.

SPEED DATING WITH YOUNG FINNISH DESIGN / Young Finnish Design

At the YFD Speed Dating event, young designers and companies meet in a fun and fast-paced environment. Many designers at the beginning of their careers find job hunting challenging, which is why we organize this event to facilitate encounters between young designers and key company personnel. The event is free for both designers and companies.

Young Finnish Design is a company founded by two designers and interior architects, Elisa Luoto and Heidi Maria Huovinen. Their mission is to create new job opportunities in the Finnish design field and for emerging Finnish designers. YFD offers brand services and design competition services to companies, with the core focus on the skills of emerging designers. YFD’s clients include several well-known domestic brands such as Aarikka, Berner, Pohjanmaan, Liikku Fitness Center, Cailap, and many others.

BUDGETS & THE ART OF BUYING / Restatop

Restatop will present a session about the project buying process. The experts will address key considerations about an efficient buying process from brief, design, budgets and implementation, which can be discussed in the workshop. The development of a project is a complex matter where an understanding of all areas will generate the desired outcome on time and on budget.  

Restatop and its partners are creators of public spaces, bringing into life interiors for outstanding customer experience – whether it’s a restaurant, hotel, office or other public meeting place. At the same time, they make sure that the spaces they create are functionally and financially smart.

The company’s products are inspired by the serene atmosphere of Nordic forests. Taiga’s comprehensive range caters for diverse office space requirements, including phone booths, personal workstations, working spaces, meeting rooms and larger modular solutions up to 28m².
