Fabric Forest – Esplanadi park installation
Make sure to visit Esplanadi park to experience and explore the beautiful installation created by a collection of Finnish textile brands.
But what do you see?
Finland is one of the world’s leading countries in terms of the textile industry leading the way towards a circular economy. By displaying textiles in amongst the trees and nature, we are creating a message that both man-made and environment must function together.
Although textiles are a part of our daily lives every day, we must consider the future and a sustainable way of producing. In this installation we aim for the viewer to take a moment to absorb the beautiful textiles on display, but to also consider their fibres, production methods and what their future will hold. The brands participating in this installation have an abundance of qualities waiting to be discovered.
Participating brands
STJM, Lauritzon, Lapuan Kankurit, Nuppu, Svensson, Annala, Jokipiin Pellava

Alvar Aalto Foundation
The Alvar Aalto Foundation maintains the material and intellectual legacy of the world-famous architect and designer Alvar Aalto, and acts to make his work and thinking more widely known. The Alvar Aalto Foundation is the museum with national responsibility for Alvar Aalto’s architecture and design heritage. Its extensive collections of architectural drawings, photographs and design objects form the basis for the Foundation´s exhibitions, publications and events, and for its work with the architectural and design heritage.
The Alvar Aalto Foundation’s museum sites; the Aalto2 Museum and the Muuratsalo Experimental House in Jyväskylä and the Aalto House and Studio Aalto in Helsinki are meeting points for friends of architecture and design from all over the world.
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Alvar Aalto (1898−1976). The architects and pioneers of modern design Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto made an exceptionally rich and varied career for themselves in Finland and abroad. During the year, the Alvar Aalto Foundation – along with its partners in collaboration – will be putting the spotlight on the story of Alvar Aalto’s architect’s office (1923−1994) and on the ideas thatinfluenced its work; ideas that are still relevant today.
